Requests for updates?

I do not have anything new I can document. Have heard he is during a cab near Tucson. I will publish mos anything that a can feel comfortable documenting. Folks who deal with Morrie should know he is a felon and is totally untrustworthy.

The Arizona Corporation Commission — which oversees stockbrokers and investment firms — has ordered Morrie S. Friedman to pay more than $79,600 in restitution and $5,000 in fines for selling unregistered stock shares in Beyond Juice and VIPComLink Inc. Friedman and Beyond Juice have also run into legal and tax problems, sanctions for unregistered stock sales and cease and desist orders in California and Washington state, according to court records. http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2013/07/17/beyond-juice-founder-in-trouble-for.html?page=all

In 1994, I was looking through a video game magazine called Diehard Gamefan. I read in the magazine about starting your own Diehard Game Club Franchise. I approached my parents about the idea and they told me to go for it and they would support me as best they could. Now being 24 years old at the time, I have to say I was very naive at the dealings of business and the people out there that are willing to take advantage of that fact. I called the number listed and setup a meeting with a person who flew out to meet with my parents and I at their home. That is when I met Morrie Friedman for the first time. He was a very kind and pleasant man and my parents and I were completely taken in by him. At dinner my mother was very straight with him and said "I trust you and do not ever take advantage of my son. I am like a mother bear that protects her cubs." Morrie replied he would never do that especially since he had broken bread with us in our home. The next step was the bank and trying to raise the estimated $200,000. The VP of the bank met with us and had already done research on Mr. Friedman. He said there was no way he would give me the money with just my signature. I was very upset with the banker and thought that my dream was over before it even started. My parents came to the rescue and co-signed the loan agreement against the recommendation of the banker. Oh how I wish we would have listened. We got the money and the nightmare started. We got a location and began construction on the crown jewel store of the Diehard Gameclub franchise. The person sent by Morrie to foresee the build out of the leased location was related to him and we thought great, he will be cut of the same cloth as Morrie and do a great job. Well he was cut of the same cloth as Morrie and was great at spending our money and accomplishing nothing. The store build out crawled along and before you knew it the $200,000 was burned through and we were not even finished with the store yet. Now my parents started digging into savings since I certainly had none, and started shelling out $30,000 here and $50,000 there. One highlight of the fiasco was us paying Morrie for a $12,000 custom made front counter. We gave him the money of course and waited for its completion. After a month of waiting Morrie said the counter was actually $24,000 and needed $12,000 more. We gave it to him, and after a few weeks the counter was installed, yeah!! The store was finished now we just needed inventory. Of course Morrie took care of that for us as well. We gave him another $75,000 for inventory and thought man we are going to pack this 3500 Sq. Ft. store to the gills with product. We waited and waited and finally received our inventory. I carried in the 3 foot square box delivered by UPS and that is honestly when I knew I was finished. The box contained a mix of 2 to 7 year old used video games worth a total of about $500.00 at most. I called Morrie in a panic telling him it would fill maybe 2 of my 14 floor shelves. He said don't worry my boy more will be on the way. It never came. I tried my best with the little knowledge I had of this industry with of course no help from the franchise. I had no more money, my parents couldn't help me anymore, and after 5 months of a $4000.00 a month lease and $4000.00 bank payment for the loan. I was through. In the middle of the night my family and I emptied the store and put what we could in storage. The next day I went to the landlord and told him I had nothing left and that I would have to break the lease. I handed him the key and he said it was O.K. He had spoken to Morrie only once and knew right away what kind of a person he was. The landlord could have went after me but he did not. He was a true gentleman. Remember the $24,000 front desk. I called the man that made this for me. The whole thing stank and I just had to figure this piece of the nightmare out. He was a very nice man on the phone and had a small local custom cabinet shop. I asked him about the money situation and he apologized to me but said he could not say anything about it to me because Morrie had him making cabinets for 5 more stores and if Morrie pulled out he would be ruined. I said it was OK and told him that I had to close my store because of Morrie. He must of felt bad for me, he told me the cabinets were actually $7500.00 not $12,000 or $24,000. I saw this man 2 years later working as a foreman for a client. He saw me and could not even look me in the face. Another life that Morrie ruined without a second thought. We tried to fight Morrie and his franchise cronies, but with no money left it was a short fight especially since the franchise base was in California and needed to be done there. The weeks after things fell apart, I was very depressed. I thought at 24 years old my life was over, and I was a huge failure. But with a great supporting family, my life went on and I persevered. I am 42 now and look at that time and shake my head. I cannot believe I trusted that man as much as I did. I guess it was a huge learning experience, although very costly for me at the time. And I do thank Morrie for showing me what to look for in a person and their character. As for me, I rebounded and started a network security consulting company. I have a beautiful wife and two fantastic boys. I make a very good living and have homes in Illinois, Wisconsin and Russia, don't laugh at that last one. God Bless you. I hope this helps you and your blog a bit and keeps others from ever doing anything with Morrie Friedman. He truly is the most dishonest person I have met in my entire life, having absolutely no conscious or soul. Yours Truly, C

Update on Morrie Friedman's wireless number

I was told he just recently answered his old wireless number. 702-401-9212

He said it was a wrong number but we know his voice, burned into our memory.

It would be interesting to talk with him for a bit, about Beyond Juice, Old Inc. Michael C.Goode, Sally Kline, Morris S. Friedman, Alan Powers, Scott Cecil,
VIP Comlink, etc, especially the new case brought by the Gupta's in Illinois.

Feel free to let me know if anyone has any new information that is factual that I can publish on the blog.

Beyond Juice 2012 update

Happy New Years 2012 all who will read this blog update.

I always update the blog with trepidation because it can really damage the way Google posts us and how far down it may push us. It has been as far down as the 13th page.

Things I have noticed in 2011.

The Beyond Juice web page went down around August.

Judith Ann Friedman, declared bankruptcy in 2007 by her herself as a resident of the house I knew Morrie lived in Scottsdale around 2005. Judith is or was Morrie’s wife.

Morrie’s lawyer has paid the tax liens on that home to keep it from going to tax auction, and shows as the legal owner of the property, according to Maricopa County on line records.

The Beyond Juice corporate 800 number stopped working.

The 800 numbers and fax number for the Beyond Juice warehouse stopped working.

No new stores or storeowners were found by me, no new victims.

Sally Kline still responded to a Better Business complaint from the Spender Ridge Las Vegas address, which is probably just a mail drop.

I personally still have a $27,000 tax lien by the IRS as a result of my own Beyond Juice business failure. Apparently not good for credit scores. Have not had credit since the business failure.

Thanks for looking us up again, have good new year 2012!

Morrie Friedman of Beyond Juice is a Felon?

The link is to the California Desist Order, following is Section 5 of the order

http://www.corp.ca.gov/ENF/pdf/2009/BeyondJuice_dr.pdf

5. It was not disclosed to prospective purchasers of the stock in Beyond Juice and Automotive Business Solutions (ABS) that Morrie S. Friedman had two prior felony convictions involving theft and fraud. These included one conviction by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for violations of sections 1343 and 1341 of Title 18 of the United States Code, for fraud by means of use of the US mail on March 4, 1975, and a second conviction for theft and conspiracy by the Circuit Court of Lake County, Illinois on September 25, 1980. It was also not disclosed to prospective purchasers of the stock that Morrie S. Friedman had judgment entered against him in a civil law suit filed in United States District Court in South Carolina by a former Beyond Juice licensee Lauren Meeks (“Meeks”). The complaint was filed in United States District Court, for the District of South Carolina, Charleston Division on September 5, 2003, and is entitled Lauren Meeks v Morrie Friedman, action number C.A. No. 2:03-2867-23. The complaint alleged causes of action against Morrie S. Friedman for Breach of Contract, Fraud, and Misrepresentation relating to the sale of a Beyond Juice license. It was also not disclosed that judgment was entered in -3- DESIST AND REFRAIN ORDER

that action in favor of Meeks and against Morrie S. Friedman for $180,000, including $100,000 in punitive damages for fraud and that Morrie S. California says Morrie Friedman is a felon?

http://www.corp.ca.gov/ENF/pdf/2009/BeyondJuice_dr.pdf

In point 5 on the second page of the above link you will see Morrie Friedman of Beyond Juice has two prior felony convictions that he did not disclose to me when I bought a Beyond Juice License. Please note the order is as a result of another Licensee, not me.

California is still trying to serve Mr. Friedman on the fairly large judgements that you will see on page 2 of the above Cease and Desist order.

I would encourage anyone doing business with Morrie Friedman or Beyond Juice to browse the entire document that is posted by the State of California on their website before doing business with them.

And, PLEASE, anyone who knows Mr Friedman's whereabouts would let me or the California Department of Corporations know. My email is stagnerp at yahoo.com

Where is Morrie Friedman of OLD Inc?

Where is Morrie Friedman of OLD Inc?

The California Department of Corporations needs to know. There are also several fairly large judgements against him that need his current address or location to be able to serve him.

If you can help please email me stagnerp@yahoo,com

Also if you know of any previous convictions he has we would appreciate that information also.

As a former store owner, Christmas is a tough season. Please stop by and try this new store out. If their menu is typical they provide a healthier choice of a meal or snack.

I am curious how they acquired a license to open the store with a California Cease and Desist order that is supposed to prevent Beyond Juice and Morrie Friedman from selling licenses in California?

original founders of Beyond Juice and states that he is “still fully active in the venture.” Morrie
Friedman and O.L.D., Incorporated act as agents on behalf of Beyond Juice in the sales of Beyond
Juice retail restaurant franchises and in leasing space for the restaurants.
3. Beyond Juice are the sellers of franchise opportunities described as “licenses” to own and
operate retail restaurants, called Beyond Juice Cafés that serve blended juice drinks also referred to in
promotional literature as “Meal In A Cup”. The Beyond Juice Website (www.beyondjuice.com)
advertises the franchise opportunity and indicates that the franchise can be purchased for between
$199,500 and $275,000 depending on local construction and real estate considerations.
4. A Beyond Juice License Agreement entered into with a California resident provided for a
total purchase price of $235,000. For this amount Beyond Juice promised to provide a complete
“turnkey” operation including a complete retail facility including lease deposits, leasehold
improvements, equipment and inventory consisting of 120 lbs of “Basic Blend Formula”. The
purchaser was required to pay “License Fees” of $3,500 the first year, $4,900 the second and
increasing each year until payments of $12,500 are required for years 6-10 and $13,000 for all
additional years. The agreement provided that the purchaser deliver to Beyond Juice an initial

5. The agreement specified Beyond Juice will “immediately begin lease negotiations on the
mutually agreed site(s) chosen by the parties” and Beyond Juice “are totally responsible for these
lease negotiations as well as the contingent liability thereto, and will at the time of the occupancy
provide an ‘Occupancy Agreement’” to the purchaser. The agreement also provided that at the
conclusion of the lease negotiations the purchaser would pay another $30,000 to Beyond Juice. The
“Disclosure” section of the license agreement states “the store owner must purchase all Company
Formulas at all times from Company. Store is leased by O.L.D. Inc. and must be operated as a
Beyond Juice unit. If it is not operated as a Beyond Juice unit, O.L.D. may act independently to
protect its liability.”

6. Beyond Juice provides purchasers with training, as well as start up support that includes
assistance in selecting wholesale suppliers, selection and preparation of store location, hiring and

7. Beyond Juice has offered and sold franchises to residents of California. The offer of
franchises by Beyond Juice has not been registered under the California Franchise Investment Law
and is not exempt under Chapter 1, beginning with Corporations Code section 31100 of that law.

http://www.beyondjuice.com/aboutus.htm

I just noticed the verbage that says they paid thousands of dollars to the University of Illinois at Chicago to help put together the formula recipes have been altered. A wise move since the University has a cease and desist order saying they were not involved in any way in the formulas and Beyond Juice Inc.

Paraphrase from http://www.beyondjuice.com/aboutus.htm
The results were the development of unique multi-formulas, each designed to address specific nutritional requirements. These powdered formulas are our "Basic Blend". It is now officially categorized and represented to the American public as a "Meal In A Cup." The originally founded company was called "Pure Energy, The Drink and Nutrition Center." The first unit opened in November of 1989 at the State of Illinois Center, Chicago, Illinois. The business was a smashing success. Other locations were opened at the Merchandise Mart and the North Western Train Station in Chicago as well as the Peach Tree Center in downtown Atlanta.

Beyond Juice? Good Investment?

Beyond Juice was not for me and and six others in Northern California and Nevada.

If you Google 'Beyond Juice scam' you'll discover there are ten states that have cease and desist orders against beyond juice selling franchises or licenses in their states. If you step down through this beyond juice blog you'll find most of the links to courts or information services that document that.

The folks that own the beyond juice stores put out good service and products, please try hem, but really do your research. Beyond juice was not right for me and six other folks.

When I started the beyond juice blog I hoped other former owners would share their stories?
